Demerah Campbell, born on January 21, 1938, passed away on July 30, 2025, at the age of 87. A longtime resident of East Atlantic Beach, New York, Demerah was the beloved daughter of Howard and Catherine Mentzel, and the devoted wife of her late husband, Billy. She was a loving sister to Ellen Callahan and her late husband, Kevin Callahan. Demerah is lovingly remembered by her extended family—Joanne, Andrew, Meagan, Riley, Linda, Jennifer, Laura, and Gary—whom she held close to her heart.
Demerah was a remarkable person—a radiant presence whose warmth and spirit touched everyone who knew her. A gifted artist, she shared her creativity with grace and joy. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and infectious sense of humor, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and light. She will be deeply missed by all of us.
Demerah was a longtime and devoted member of the People’s Church of Long Beach. For many years, she shared her passion for both faith and art by teaching Bible Art to children and adults alike, enriching the lives of many in the congregation.
