Eddie Lee Benson

August 22, 2024, surrounded by family in Queens, New York.

Born August 17, 1938, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Willie and Magdelena (Maggie) Benson, he married Beatrice Slaughter in January 1961. They had three children.

Mr. Benson was a successful small business owner of Benson Maintenance Inc. based on Long Island, New York. He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Mound Bayou, MS. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing stories about his youth.

Mr. Benson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beatrice Benson; his children – Sharon Faye, Eddie Jr. and Sivi Maria; his daughter-in-law Mildred Benson and son-in-law Frank Kwesi Bentum.

By his grandchildren: Joshua Benson, Ashley Sosa, Brandon Davis, Shayna Davis, Anthony Briscoe, Kyail Chatman, Dominique Chatman and Patrice Benson; his great grandchildren: Najiyah Benson, Simfene Benson, Bryson Davis; King Joshua Benson, Chi Maverick Chapman, Felix Sosa and Dior Washington.

He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Mattie Fulton (Aurthur), Shirley Parrish, Mercedes Slaughter and Valerie Sudds (Donald); his brothers-in law Isaiah Slaughter and Andrew Slaughter, as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Willie, Johnny, Joseph, and L.C.; his sisters Ollie Hall, Mary Brooks and Emma Jenkins.
