On the morning of Wednesday, October 18, 2017, Eleanor Butler, Devoted Mother, Grandmother and Sister, went to be with her Lord. After waging a courageous battle with cancer which she was winning, she finally succumb to other natural causes. Her Sister, Diane, was by her side all of the 53 days she was in the hospital and was present at the time of her passing and she is said to have suffered very little pain
Eleanor was born in New York City on February 2, 1943 to Una Mae Neal and Ernest Theodore Butler. She is survived by her three siblings, Diane, Robert and Ronald, her son Eric, and her grand children Eric Jr., Shannon and Sierra.
Eleanor lived as a child in upper Manhattan before moving to Astoria in her pre teen years. She attended I.S. 126 where she met her eventual husband, Eugen Outcalt. She graduated from Bryant High School in Astoria. She went to work shortly thereafter at CBS Television in NYC as a keypunch operator. Eleanor moved from Astoria into Manhattan in her early 20’s and lived there until 1975 when she settled in Flushing.
Eleanor was an active member of her church, Community Church of Astoria, and came to love the Lord. She questioned her pastors and was always seeking to find answers to questions regarding her faith.
Special thanks to the staff at Sloan Kettering who made her final days as happy, peaceful and comfortable as possible.
