George Stan entered into eternal rest on January 4, 2013 at his home in Astoria with his wife Lidia at his side. He was born in Romania on August 1, 1951 to Aurel and Margareta Stan. In 1983 he came to live in the United States. He was a very educated man and in his homeland he was a civil construction engineer. While here in the United States, George was working in New York City as a handyman at a condominium complex where he was always known to have a heartfelt helping hand and a welcoming smile. George could be found in front of a computer at any given time trying to further educate himself as well as making music cds. George and Lidia thoroughly enjoyed vacationing in Maine. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home and on Tuesday at the St. Dumitru Romanian Orthodox Church (50 West 89th Street, New York, NY 10024) from 9:30 - 10:00 AM. The funeral mass will immediately follow the visitation at 10:00 AM and then the burial will take place at Cypress Hills Cemetery.
