

Harold A Bridgwood 70 of Astoria New York, passed away February 18, 2016 . He was born May 13, 1945 to Rheeta and Ferdinand Bridgwood. He is survived by His wife Candice of 48 years, their son Scott his wife Barbara, their two sons Ryan and Dylan and his brother Paul. Harold was a Vietnam era US Marine. After the Marine Corp he joined the NYC Police Department where he spent 24 of his 29 years as a detective, 17 of which were spent a a homicide detective. After the Police Department Harold held a position as Executive Vice President of the New Water Street Corp. from 1996 to 2014.
In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for Raycom Media, a major broadcast television company. Harry was a member of the Governance Committee Chair, Board of Directors for Hope for the Warriors. Additionally, Harry also served on the Board of the Alliance for Downtown New York, one of the largest Business Improvement Districts in New York CIty, Harry also was Chairman of the Friends of the Vietnam Veterans Plaza, a group which furthers the remembrance of New York City's Vietnam Veterans. The group's main function is to provide funding for the beautification of New York City Vietnam Veterans Plaza and Memorial. As Chairman, Harry was proud have amongst his board of members one former Prisoner of War and four Congressional Medal of honor recipients.
