Kathleen Neary

Kathleen Neary of Woodside NY passed away January 30, 2024 after a short illness. Kathleen was born November 15, 1930 to Joseph and Ellen (Healy) Gilroy in Sligo, Ireland. She was predeceased by her husband Michael J. Neary. She was also predeceased by her brothers Tommy and Paddy Gilroy, and her sisters Rose, Mary Ellen (Armstrong), Margaret, and Bridget (Leen). Kathleen was the sixth of seven children to be raised on the family farm. She went to work at St Columba’s Hospital in Sligo after leaving school. Kathleen emigrated to the United States with her sister in 1957 and went to work at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Harrison NY. She enjoyed going dancing at the Tuxedo Ballroom, City Center, and the Jaeger House in Manhattan. She met her husband Michael in New York. They married in 1963 and settled in Woodside, NY. Kathleen was a nurse’s aide at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica NY for over 30 years. Kathleen enjoyed reading and going to church. She was a loving aunt to her nephews John Armstrong and John Leen, and nieces Marian Rooney, Margaret Armstrong and Erin Leen. Kathleen will repose at Kennedy-Roth Funeral home from 9am to 10 am Wednesday, February 7, 2024. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:45am St. Sebastian RC Church in Woodside NY. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx.
