Mabel was born to the late Rueben and Sally Faggins on August 22, 1934, in Richmond, Virginia. She departed this life on October 4, 2014 in Mount Sinai Hospital, Queens New York. She lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed playing her numbers and she loved to dance; she was given nick name “Mabel Skates”. Her infectious smile would light up any room. She attended and graduated from Maggie Walker High School in Virginia. Mabel met the love of her life, William Gray, in Petersburg, Virginia doing what she loved-- dancing and smiling. Once he saw that infectious smile the rest was history. William “Joe” and Mabel Gray relocated to Jamaica, Queens. She began her career at Queens General Hospital where she spent 26 years before retiring on May 19, 1991. She often spent time with her family and friends. She enjoyed gatherings in her home and loved preparing home cooked meals. She shared beautiful memories with her husband who preceded her in death. Mabel leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters; Angela and Robin Gray; two granddaughters, Latonya Grimes and Shaquana Whitaker; one grandson Tykeem Gray; two great grandchildren, Nyla and Mason Whitaker, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
