Maria Pawelczak 91 of Astoria, New York entered into eternal rest on April 11, 2014. Maria was born in the western part of the Ukraine on April 9, 1923. Maria was married to Mykola Pawelczak on August 5, 1945 in Germany. Maria had a career in Professional Office Cleaning. She was a member of the Ukrainian Roman Catholic Church and a had a passion for giving and family. She also donated to various charities. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Joe Pizzuto of Staten Island; son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Diana Pawelczak of Windermere, Florida; also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of long time friends. Maria was preceded in death by her husband Mykola; and two sons Myron and Micheal. From a small town in the Ukraine, Maria was determined to make a better life for herself. Her journey was not easy and she faced many obstacles along the way, but with perseverance and hard work she succeeded in achieving the American dream.
