I have not listened to a Bread album since the late nineties with Richie in Monticello NY. I logged onto YouTube tonite and said to myself--I need to hear some mellow comforting music. I lost my mother in Oct 2016. I pinged Richie's name and could not believe what I am reading. My heart is breaking for the loss of a sweet soul. My condolences to Richie's family and friends. To the Great Hunter in the Sky-

This world lost a great guy this week.  Richie was one of those people that gave more to others than he ever kept for himself.  I have know Richie since we were pretty young and he helped me through some of the toughest times in my early life.   He was always there when anyone called on him no matter what he had planned for himself.  The world was a better place with him in it.  I know god has plans for Richie and I know he is watching over us all, especially his sister Anne who he always worried about.  Love and hugs.  Laura

my condolences to richies family and friends, rich broke me in to big game hunting many years ago.Rich taught me alot about the sport, we had good times growing up in astoria i will never forget you rest in peace rich

I can't tell you how much I will miss Richie - just being there in this world - for me - and for all of us. Knowing Richie was only a phone call away made us all a little safer. He gave his all to everything he did - but most of all, he gave himself to all of us. I never knew another like him - and I never will.

Richie was a friend of mine. A very close friend. We worked together and shared many adventures together.
Richie lived his life a few notches higher than average. Anyone who knew or worked with him understood this early on. "Always do the right thing," he would say. "The name of the co. Isn't ,It's good enough!"  No it wasn't. It was called 'Richies Home Improvements.'
He had a way of getting great work from those who would otherwise do just passable work. That was fun to see.
My life was made a better one having known Rich. We shared what we knew and that was the foundation of a lasting friendship. So, to my friend I say, so-long . . . I'll see you later...

I did not have the pleasure of meeting Richie personally but I have heard many great things about him and what a wonderful man he was. He has made a huge impact on those in his life, including my mom. He will always be remembered in a positive light. My condolences are with his family and friends that are grieving at this time. 

We may not understand why he is no longer with us but at least we can be consoled with knowing that he is not simply resting in peace, but he is up in heaven ready to enjoy the rest of eternity with our Lord! He is no longer feeling any pain or sorrow, he is feeling pure joy!

My deepest sympathy to the Pinkava family. My name is Henry Chin, I knew Richard from working in DOT in Maspeth shop for over 25 years. He worked at night and I work the day shift. We would say hello and good byes during the morning time clock. Farewell my friend.

I am so grateful for the time we shared and the memories made together.  You made growing up fun and I am who I am greatly because of your influences.  I only wish you had more time to make memories with us.  Rest in peace Richie

No words can express the sorrow in my heart. I am so grateful for the 53 years we shared as brother and sister. You were always my shining star and as hard as it was to let you go, I know our Lord needed you more. You have embarked on a wonderful new journey, and my everlasting love and gratitude go with you. Mommy is so proud of you!! Rest in peace baby brother till we are together again.

I've known Richie and his wonderful family since the 70's.  To know and love Richie is to know and love his family...If you looked up the meaning of "heart of gold", I'm quite certain you would find a picture of my friend, next to the definition....Richie ALWAYS put everyone else's well being ahead of his own.  He always made himself available to help you whenever you needed him, and in turn, he didn't want you to worry about returning the favor.  He simply NEVER wanted anyone to make a fuss about him...An incredibly talented carpenter, Richie did some work for me when I purchased  my house.  Needless to say, he made it look so easy.  He sure as hell was not going to take any money from me, so I would give him a case of beer and practically had to beg him to take it.....He loved hosting BBQ's in his backyard, even in the winter.  Its a 25 degree night in Jan, and there we are huddled in the garage with the door UP, and Richie manning the grill a few feet away....Two of Richie's passions were hunting and camping, which he did quite often with our good friend Steve Miss at the property they owned together in upstate NY.  Those are two activities that are NOT for me, but Richie would invite me anyway because he knew he would get a funny answer.  Richie would say:  "Hey Frank, we're going up this weekend...want to come with us"?  I would say:  "I can't Rich...I have to take my mother to the shoe-maker".  He would break up laughing.........And so, it has come to this:  I'm a proud Catholic..I believe in God...But, I don't think I will ever be smart enough to understand how God operates.  Why does He allow my friend Richie, to get hit with cancer and lose his HARD-FOUGHT battle in only 18 months at only 53 yrs old?  The nicest guy you could ever be friends with.  Loved his family...loved his friends...earned an HONEST living..Always there for you....a CLASS ACT........And it comes to this?  I don't get it....A few years ago my mom passed away at 91, with the ailments that come with being that age.  It was her time.  I GET that.  I quickly made peace with it.....But THIS, I don't get......Good bye Rich....You WILL be missed, especially at our monthly get-together for dinner...Rest peacefully, pal.
