

Rick Yagual, known to his family as Nico, passed away on January 28, 2024, in New York City, New York at the age of 58 .He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and teacher. Rick had a dry sense of humor and always looked out for others. He was a dedicated individual who continuously sought to better himself, whether through schooling, fitness, or nutrition. Rick had a passion for teaching always seeking to positively impact the lives of his students.
Born on October 20, 1965, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Jose and Juana Yagual, he came to the U.S. in his early teens. Driven by his ambition and support of his family he became a teacher and subsequently earned his masters degree. Rick's career as a teacher was a testament to his dedication and passion for education. He believed in the transformative power of knowledge and tirelessly worked to inspire his bilingual students. Rick knew the difficulties of learning another language and he sought to help students as they learned in English and Spanish. Rick's commitment to his profession was unwavering, and he leaves behind a lasting legacy in the hearts and minds of those he taught.
Rick brought joy and laughter to those around him. He cherished his two dogs, Cafecito and Negrito doing everything he could to make them happy.
Rick Nico Yagual will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. He is survived by his siblings Cecilia, Pilar, Magda, Enrique, Freddy, and Mirella along with his nieces and nephews. His memory will be cherished, and his impact will continue to resonate. May he rest in peace.
