Skip was a huge impact on my life. Not only in presenting opportunity after opportunity working with him in the department, but you were gonna learn a lot just being around him, talking with him. You were gonna laugh, argue, explore serious topics, never a dull moment. It's 2017, I just happen to be looking up a play from 1987 and my attention went to E-1 LOL, gave me great feelings of laughter and sadness in missing him. Chief, you were a blessing to me man and you are missed. Thanks Curtis for keeping this up till 2018. Williams-U-14

Just found out about Skip after knowing him some 
30 plus years. He greeted you like your a ambassador.
Skip was the most down to earth person I've ever known. 
He always showed love even when not seeing me for years, 
like a big brother. Always there to make you laugh, listen and
show genuine concern, I will pass it on. We should all make
a difference in everyone's life like he had. I salute you Skip.

I just found out about Skipper's death and I'm incredibly sad at the news.  I worked for him as a stage doorman at Shubert theaters for most of the 80s.  He was funny, protective, wonderfully sarcastic -- and a friend.  It's hard for me to imagine coming back to the city now and not seeing him towering over everybody!  Rest in peace, Skipper, I'll never forget your kindnesses.

Shocked and stunned to learn of the loss of Stephen Skipper.  I walked into Macy's for a security job and E-1 offered me a job as a guard.  I told him I didn't want to be a guard and promised him that if he hired me as a store detective, he'd never regret it.  He looked me in the eye and said, Okay.  I had a special relationship with  Skip and when he took over the Internal Theft program, he took me with him.  I remember him telling me that he was a star but I will help him to shine.  I did and he did....   At the time the unit had two of us working under  his direction.  The results were phenomenal and the unit grew.  I went on to the Police Department and then to law school and then as a prosecutor in the Manhattan DA's office.  We always promised to have lunch, but it always got pushed back.  He game me an open invite to watch any play in the Schubert Theatres and I never took him up on it.  Was at  play yesterday and I finally said, let me google his number and give him that call for lunch.  My heart is still racing and my eyes are wet.  Never put off getting together with your friends cause there are no guarantees in life.  I feel a sense of loss and emptiness.  Skip, I am so sorry I didn't call.  So sorry we didn't have that lunch.  I can hear your voice calling my name.  You were  such a personality and such and influence in my life.  Thanks for everything.

I was introduced to Skipper in 1983 by Richard Thigpen. Richard and I were working as part timers at Bergdorf-Goodman in the security department. Richard, at that time, was working full-time for Skipper in the security department with the Shubert Organization. Richard recommended me to Skipper. I was hired, and for the next 24 years I worked  for Shubert until I retired. In that time I cultivated a lifelong friendship with Skipper. For me, working for Skipper was like working for a big brother who always had your back. He will be in my heart forever.

My deepest sympathy to the entire Skipper clan. He was a very special person and I have been blessed to have known him. May God give you the strength to get through this difficult time. May my friend rest in peace.

I met Mr. Skipper 1998 I came to work for him at ISA along for Mr. Coppage. He helped me during a hard time in my life raising two girls alone living in NJ. Once my assignment was done with ISA he hired me to work for him at the Shubert Organization were I worked for him for 16 years. He nick named me Yoboda lol I guess it was his short version of Yakeema. He has always told me from day one conduct yourself as a lady and never embarrass yourself or my family and never never come across as weak. I took that advise and kept it with me everyday. He was a dad to most of us here in the security department at Shubert's and he will be greatly missed. I send my heart felt sincere condolences to the Skipper family and may you all find healing in his transition.
