Tito Raymond Leone entered into eternal rest on July 21st at his home in Astoria, NY. He was 95 years old. Tito was born on February 27th, 1928 in the province of Teramo, Abruzzo in central Italy. As a young baby he made the voyage to America with his mother, Maria Leone to join with his father, Dante Leone. The family made their way through several NY neighborhoods and ultimately settled in Astoria, NY, where Tito lived for the rest of his years.
He was a graduate of the University of Maryland, and his pursuit of learning continued throughout his entire life.
Tito was a proud veteran, drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. He served his duty at Fort Dix in New Jersey.
Tito was also a proud Italian-American and had equal love for the country of his birth and for his adopted home country. He took particular interest in the famous Italian-Americans of his time: Joe DiMaggio, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and more. He loved the classic movies and movie stars of the ‘30s and ‘40s. He was passionate about the stories of his youth and would tell those stories to all who wanted to listen. One of the last stories he told was of his own family’s trips by train to the beaches of Coney Island in the 1930s and ‘40s. Tito was also deeply committed to his Catholic faith and was very grateful for Catholic education, particularly for the Catholic schools that his children attended.
Tito was predeceased in life by his younger sister Lillian Danovaro and brother-in-law Victor Danovaro, by his younger sister Lolita Soranno and brother-in-law Nicholas Soranno and by his younger brother Leo Leone.
Tito is survived in life by his wife Barbara Leone, and their 4 children: daughter Elizabeth Farrell, and son-in-law Gerald Farrell, sons Raymond Leone, Stephen Leone and daughter-in-law Elena Leone, and daughter Madeline Leone Rao and son-in-law Rahul Rao. Tito is also survived by his sister-in-law Patricia Leone, and was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was also a proud grandfather to 4 grandchildren: Deanna Farrell, Catherine Farrell, Peter Leone and Mira Rao.
Rest in eternal peace Dad, with our love and gratitude.
