

Walter Johnson Hazell Jr. was born on February 12, 1953 to the late Walter Sr. and Dolly (Bythewood) Hazell in Manhattan, New York. He entered into eternal rest on February 14, 2018 at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, New York. Walter was affectionately called “Lucky” by his family and friends, a name that stuck with him. Walter received this nickname from his parent because he was born two minutes before Friday the 13th.
In his younger years, he was known to be quite an athlete. He participated in a boxing league, football league, and was known to be a very fast runner around the baseball diamond. Walter was educated in the public school system, he then attended LaGuardia Community College in Queens, New York to obtain his CDL for his commercial bus Driving.
He started his career as a bus driver with Academy Bus Company in New Jersey. He spent many years working as a tour driver for Bestway Bus Company and Skyliner Travel and Tour and most recently for Uniworld Tour Co.
Walter had a kind heart and was always willing to help others. Though our hearts ache from his passing, we bow in humble submission to God’s will.
Walter was predeceased in death by his parent Walter Sr. and Dolly Hazell, and his sister Verla Jackson.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his long-time love of 28 years, Patricia Saenger of Astoria, New York; his daughter Nicole Hazell of East Elmhurst, New York; a sister Vivian Dority of Woodbridge, Virginia; a brother Robert (Monique) Hazell of Rancho Cordova, California; a brother-in-law Floyd Jackson of Elmont, New York; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friend.
