February 10, 1954 – April 10, 2026
Alexander Voronkov, a man of profound strength, integrity, and technical mastery, passed away following a courageous battle with ALS. Known for his unwavering work ethic and his "perfectionist’s touch," Alexander left an indelible mark on both his professional world and the hearts of his family.
Born in Donetsk, Ukraine, Alexander moved to Moscow at the age of nine. It was there that he came of age, completing his university education and honing his technical skills that would define his career. In 1993, seeking new horizons, he emigrated to the United States alongside his parents and his loyal dog, beginning a new chapter built on the values of hard work and resilience.
Alexander dedicated 20 years of his professional life to Emory University as a Facility Management Technician. He was a mainstay of the institution’s operations, the person colleagues turned to when challenges seemed insurmountable. A natural mentor, he took pride in guiding younger technicians, instilling in them the same diligence and high standards he demanded of himself.
His commitment to "doing things right" wasn't limited to his work. At home, Alexander was constantly in motion, using his hands to repair, improve, and create. He was the selfless handyman for his entire extended family, always available to solve a problem or lend his strength to a project.
In 2007, Alexander found a devoted partner in his wife, Nelly. Together, they shared a life of deep affection and adventure, traveling the world to explore new cultures and landscapes. Their bond was never more evident than during his recent illness; Nelly cared for him with tireless devotion, just as he had taken great care of her throughout their years together.
Although illness eventually took his physical strength, Alexander’s mind and resolve remained unbreakable. He bore the weight of the disease with a quiet, steely dignity, meeting every challenge with a fortitude that inspired everyone who stood by his side.
Alexander is survived by his beloved wife, Nelly, and the family he embraced as his own, children Ilona and Inga (Chris), and grandchildren Jake, Simone, and Olivia. He will forever be remembered by them as a man of character, a master of his craft, and a pillar of reliability.
A graveside service will be Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Kennesaw Memorial Park, 1306 Whitlock Ave NW, Marietta, Georgia.
