after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Perry was born in Greenville, South Carolina on May 27, 1947; the son of Eleanor Meadors Tanner and Benjamin Perry Tanner, Jr. who preceded him in death. Perry graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1965 and graduated from Furman University in 1970.
Perry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pat Moran Tanner; son, Benjamin Perry Tanner IV; daughter-in-law, Dr. Andrea Tanner; granddaughter, Kati Tanner; grandson, Benjamin Tanner; and his brother, Meadors (and Marie) Tanner.
After retiring from Sears Roebuck, Co., Perry started an online employment agency, The Skills Bank. Perry worked at The Atlanta Olympic Committee, British Airways, and retired again – this time from Medtrac Equipment Company.
When Perry and Pat moved to Woodstock over 15 years ago, they became involved in their community serving in various capacities. Perry was proud to serve on The Downtown Development Authority for 15 of those years. Perry loved researching his family’s genealogy, and driving his 1964 Porsche 356.
During the Christmas season, it was not hard to find Perry… surrounded by children, playing Santa’s largest and oldest elf, LEON!
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 1pm until 1:45 pm followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2pm at Woodstock Funeral Home – 8855 Main Street in Woodstock, Georgia.
