Bernadette "Bernie" Mary Kratz

Bernadette Mary Kratz, age 97, of Powder Springs, Georgia, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018.

Friends and family knew Bernadette more affectionately as Bernie. She was blessed to be able to have five generations of family to love at once; she was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.

Bernie had always maintained a good relationship with the Lord and after moving to Georgia in ’92, she attended St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Dallas, Georgia.

Bernie was fun loving and firm. She knew when it was necessary to give a little hard love and when it was okay to laugh along with everyone. She enjoyed hiking, cooking, sewing and crochet. Growing up, her children always had a new Easter Sunday outfit to wear.

Bernie is preceded in death by her late husband, Dan Kratz; parents, Joseph and Susan Kunnecke; son in laws, Charles Brocato and Lenny Polanowski; brother, Joseph Kunnecke; sister, Marie Kostenko and her husband, Joe; brother in law, James Hart; granddaughter, Julie Divelbliss; and grandson, Michael Polanowski.

Bernie’s memory will be cherished by her daughters, Bonnie Brocato and Marcelle Polanowski both of Woodstock, Georgia; son, Dan Kratz and his wife, Patricia, of Powder Springs, Georgia; sister, Lillian Hart of Maryland; sister in law, Virginia Kunnecki; grandchildren, Danny Davis (Lydia), Joey Davis (Michelle), Jimmy Davis (Abbey), Mark Polanowski (Jennifer), Paul Ray, Brandee Younger (Bernie), Eric Kratz and Steve Divelbliss; 17 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; many cousins and several nephews.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Woodstock Funeral Home 8855 Main Street Woodstock, Georgia 30188 with Dr. Vic Bledsoe officiating.

Donations can be made in Bernie’s honor to your choice of the SPCA, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
