Billie Sawyer

Billie Stanhope Sawyer (1944-2020) passed peacefully in her sleep with her family by her side at home on April 6. Billie was born on September 17, 1944 to William Henry Stanhope and Sally Evelyn Stanhope in West Virginia. Billie enjoyed growing up in Pensacola, FL and went on to pursue a degree from Georgia State University and worked as a social worker in Detroit, MI and worked in teacher certification in Atlanta, GA. She was a devoted wife and mother, a grandmother who cherished her grandchildren, and loved by all who knew her. Any visitor to her home would feel welcomed and she would make sure that they were refreshed and well-fed before leaving; Billie was always serving those around her and finding ways to bless others. She is survived by her husband, W. Thomas (Tom) Sawyer; daughter, Jacqueline Drane (grandchildren: Thomas, Cadence, and Hannah); sister, Debbie Hartzog; brother, Chester Stanhope.

Memorial arrangements include visitation at Woodstock Funeral Home Wednesday, April 8th, 2020 from 6-8pm and a service for immediate family Thursday, April 9. Please note that visitation may only include up to 10 guests at a time and social distancing precautions must be maintained due to this extraordinary time. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home
