In loving memory of our mother, Gayle Elizabeth Reid, who passed away on April 25th, 2022. Widowed as a young mother of three girls under the age of 4, she spent most of her life demonstrating to each the values of overcoming adversity, working hard, and maintaining faith in God. After working as a nurse for several years, she devoted her life to assisting disabled adults, counseling and helping others in need.
Our mother was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage, faith, and dignity. As the head of the household, she taught us the importance of family, hard work, and to be examples of God’s unconditional love. She was a source of inspiration to many and she will be deeply missed by those whose lives she touched.
Born in North Carolina on June 1, 1948. She lived throughout the United States from the Northeast to the Northwest and South. She enjoyed family gatherings, travelling and camping.
Gayle was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Gibson, her parents, Watkins George and Mary Ann Rhyne Reid, as well as by her siblings Fred Rollins, Watkins Reid, Jr., and Wilhelmina Reid. She is survived by her brother George Reid, and her sisters, Mary Jean Reid King and Doris Reid. She leaves behind three daughters, Anissa, Angela, and Tamara, her sons-in-law, Dionicio and Lawrence and grandson Khai, along with many nieces and nephews and their children.
Mommy, you will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace. A celebration of life will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina on June 4, 2022.
There are no tears in Heaven nor grief of any kind;
I leave this final teardrop to those I've left behind.
Though absent from the body, I'm present with the Lord;
the joy of my salvation is now my full reward.
Love always,
Anissa, Angela, and Tamara
