

Mr. Holmes was a husband, father and grandfather. He had attended The Taft School in Connecticut as well as Babson Institute. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and had served from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1956 in New York.
Mr. Holmes was one of the friendliest people you would ever meet. He was very loving, outgoing and had a big heart. He had a wonderful sense of humor and really influenced those around him to cherish your family and friends.
He enjoyed his daily reading of the newspaper and sailing his boat on the lake. He created fond memories with his family including eating oysters and traveling. Through the family business, T.B. Holmes & Sons, Mr. Holmes exposed his family to various experiences and places including Massachusetts, Missouri, Ohio, Minnesota, Illinois, Florida and Georgia while selling heavy construction equipment.
Mr. Holmes is preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Leiper Holmes; son in law, Cuyler Kline; parents, Ture B. and Lucille W. Holmes; brother, Bernie Holmes; and sister, Inez Holmes. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Kline of Woodstock, Georgia; son, David Andrew Holmes of Birmingham, Alabama; sister in law, Betty Holmes of South Yarmount, Massachusetts; grandsons, Cameron Kline and his wife, Kelly, of Sandy Springs, Georgia and Christopher Kline of Woodstock, Georgia; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins to cherish his memory.
A memorial service will be held in his honor at 12:30 pm Friday, July 28, 2017 at Woodstock Funeral Home with Pastor Vic Bledsoe officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery where Mr. Holmes will be laid to rest with his wife.
