George A. "Rip" Masters

Funeral Services will be held 10:00AM Thursday, December 23, 2010 at Summit Baptist Church, Acworth. Interment will follow in Newman Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Otto, N.C. The family will receive friends at Woodstock Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 22nd from 5:00-8:00PM.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Carpenter Masters; son and daughter-in-law, Scott & Sherry Masters; daughter and son-in-law, Darla & Clay Bennett; grandsons, Harrison, Tim, Chris, Davis & Chase; sister, Carol Balderson, TX.

“Rip” was born in Rochester, PA and after 22 years of service, including 2 tours in Vietnam, retired from the United States Marine Corp. He was a member and chaplain of the Marine Corp League of Woodstock. Mr. Masters was a member of Builders for Christ for 20 years and was a GA State Hunter’s Safety Instructor for 24 years. He donated over 100 pints of blood to the Red Cross and was the State of GA Hunter Safety Education Instructor of the year for 2009. Rip also was the past president of Olive Springs Hunting Club and retired from Lockheed.
