Jay leaves behind former wife Janice, son Sean, son Brett, daughter Kimberly, son-in-law Fabian, grandchildren Damian, Gael and Kira, brother Bob, sister-in-law Colleen, niece Jessica, nephew Shane, and great nephews Cameron and Liam, in addition to many friends.
Born in Minneapolis, MN on January 13, 1943 to Jerry E. Murphy and Eve Marlene Dix, Jay studied French and Mathematics at the University of Montana, graduating in 1965. He moved to Louisiana, later Florida where he met his wife, then Missouri, before settling in Georgia to work at Computer Associates, where he traveled the world presenting, installing and providing trainings for their mainframe software products. He retired in Woodstock, where he became a proud member of the local AARP chapter and Regal Cinemas crown club.
Jay was an avid outdoor adventurer. He loved to explore, go sightseeing, hike, and take long walks. He was proud to have visited 62 US National Parks, 88 US National Monuments, and journeyed to over 100 countries during his lifetime. He also enjoyed nature photography, collecting, music, and driving his yellow Porsche.
