Should have shared this sooner. Miss you bro 

Sloan and I met in college, and he was the best kind of person from day one. His kindness and free spirit lit up the room every where he went, and people couldn’t help but become his friend. I had the honor of becoming his big brother in the fraternity, and like real brothers we took care of each other through all kinds of moments - some wild, some serious, all genuine. As we got older we got to walk through a lot of life together. He stood by my side at my wedding, always encouraging me to be the best husband I could be to my wife Ali. Even after we moved 300 miles away, Sloan made sure the friendship stayed close. When I heard him and Kate were back together I was so excited, and we never saw him happier. Some of my favorite memories are seeing him and Kate in Florida with the dogs when they came to visit. Sloan taught me so much about life - how being genuine is always the right call, how to open your heart to others and new opportunities, and not to take life too seriously. But most importantly he showed me you should always take care of the people you love. I honestly think Sloan was too good for this world, and he always stayed true to himself. He was the brother I got to choose, and I’ll miss him everyday, but I know he’s at peace and back together with the love of his life. I love you brother.

Dear Wanda:
Somehow I thought of you, and looked you up online and found the obituary of Sloan. I am heartbroken for you. You were always such a kind person and a true friend. I wish that are friendship had not faded away.  My heart is with you as you know I understand what you are going through.  If you ever want to come for a visit to me in France, I would love to have you, and catch up on things .  If not,  when I come back to the USA , I would love to see you. When I was told about your passing, 15 years melted away and there you were in my memory at St. Pius—such a joy in class. Funny. Respectful. Upbeat.

It wasn’t hard to call you to mind. You were that kind of student and that kind of person. May you rest in peace. Many prayers surround you and your family.💔

Sloan, I’ll always remember you from the good ole CKS days. Even though you were two grades above me, seeing you in the hallways, recess, cafeteria etc for 8 years with such a friendly smile and a warm heart will be how I forever remember you.  You were such  a bright light. 
Grief is such a horrible thing to endure and I pray for each and everyone of Sloans family and friends to somehow find the power of healing in this difficult and shocking  time. He literally lit up every room he walked into.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Sloan. I can still remember running drills at practice for the Pius basketball our freshman year and him cracking jokes the whole time to keep the mood light. I was so sad to hear of the difficulties he and his family have been through over the past year, and am at a loss for words after this news. Grief is no easy thing, especially for those gone before their time. My deepest condolences to the Ruzicka and Caracappa family. I hope that you are able to find solace in one another and comfort in the knowledge that Sloan left a positive imprint on those with whom he crossed paths, even after many years.

Sloan was such a radiant soul. He was the type of person who walked in and immediately lit up the room. There are so many memories from my high school days that include him. A notable memory was going to the Hannah Montana concert with him, Katie, and Reilly sophomore year. He was very patient to put up with all of our screaming from our excitement.

 He could always make you laugh even when you didn’t want to — or during class when you weren’t supposed to. As funny, fun, and playful as he was, he was also a very deep and introspective person. Conversations with him were always enjoyable. I will miss talking with him.

I am grateful to have known him and loved him. He is unforgettable and will be greatly missed by everyone he left behind.

I don't have any pictures of us unfortunately, this is the closest thing I found that made me smile and it's actually helping me grieve.

You always knew how to make me laugh.

Brother I promise you I will take in the wisdom of all the time we spent together being a positive light because you have no idea how much impact you had on those around you and through that you'll always be with me, just promise me we watch the Falcons game every Sunday.

I can't think about Sloan without smiling.  He was simply the kind of student, indeed the kind of person, that teachers long to teach.  He was an open, fun, and joyful learner.  In recent years, I was pleased to hear of his travels with Kate and to know that the spirit he brought to my classroom was making its way around the world.  He was a delight.  Prayers for his family and friends.

Im so heartbroken to hear about Sloan. We shared so many unforgettable memories together at Pius and remained friends at Georgia State. His energy and joy were truly contagious. Sending love to his family and prayers for peace 🤍.

I remember having Sloan in class at St. Pius X high school he was respectful and funny, never mean in his antics   This is certainly a loss for everyone. Prayers of comfort for his mom, brother, other relatives and friends

Sloan was one of my first childhood friends. One of my earliest animal encounters was with his pet hamster, which sent me on a lifelong obsession with animals. Sloan loved that little hamster so much that he encouraged my love of animals through him. I think Lightning was his name. He would always bite me when I tried to pick him up, but Sloan could always hold him with grace and love and encouraged me to try again. That was Sloan. He had a special way where all souls loved and respected him. Sloan encouraged everyone around him not to judge but to hold space with love and grace. Such a kind soul, and at the end of the day, when night falls, that is the only thing that matters.

I was always too busy behind the camera to be in front of it with you but I’ll cherish all these memories. Loved catching up with you during my random trips back to Atlanta. Our laughs were always so effortless and I’ll never forget the feeling like no time had passed once we did connect. We will always have the Braves and critical takes on their stupid bullpen choices⚾️.  I loved watching you and Kate grow in love. Say hi to Christine for me buddy ❤️💔

We saw Atlanta United score a late equalizer against Chicago on July 16th.

I had the pleasure of being Sloan’s close friend and neighbor for the past few years.  He was such a wonderful person, always willing to talk, joke around, and passionately discuss our favorite things like who was the most powerful jedi or who should be in the starting lineup.  He would always go out of his way to help me, whether it be my wingman or offer life advice.  I attended his beautiful wedding, for that was that was the happiest I’ve ever seen him.  Kate was the light of his life.  He never stopped talking about how amazing she was and how much he was in love.  When tragically passed, it was clear that he would need my support, and I was more than happy to reciprocate the kindness and support he always gave me.  We would talk, cry, grieve, hug, and strive to be better men.  But when he lost the most important person in his life, he struggled to find himself again and I am broken to no longer have such a great friend.  I will always remember this man, but especially how important it is to have supportive friends, be vulnerable when you are going through hardship, and offer or seek support when we are most weak.  RIP bru.

This was back in 2021 with LenditPoint’s OGs … what wonderful days! Surrounded by great people, we were the LP family and always enjoyed Joseph’s sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.

Sloan was one of the most genuine people I’ve ever known. He never had trouble speaking his mind because his heart was full of love and joy. We met in college and became friends right away. Im honored to call you my little brother, my groomsman, and one of my best friends. I’ll miss you man, but I know you’re at peace and together with Kate again. I love you bro.

Sloan  was one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. Sloan had this amazing way of showing up fully, loving big, and bringing joy to every room he walked into. He approached life with such an open heart and open mind, and everyone around him felt it.

He was such a great friend and brother to my husband (Jimmy) — and to me, too. He was family. We’re so thankful for every moment we got to share with him, and we’ll carry his light with us always.

Thank you Wanda for raising such a beautiful soul. We see him in so many of the good things around us, and we miss him more than words can say. Sending you so much love and strength. ❤️

Wanda, I was horrified to hear this! He was such a source of joy and fun! I can’t  imagine not having him!! So many memories from Christ the King! The haunted house, etc.! I will be attempting to send you healing and peace through prayers!! If you need a shoulder, call me!

I remember meeting Sloan at Georgia State. We were in the same Spanish class as well as several Psychology classes together. Sloan would always crack jokes and keep me laughing the whole class period. I don’t think he realized how much of a light he was to me and in my life during those years. Fly high buddy, you were and are so loved and dearly missed.

I just saw this and I'm still processing what happened.  I remember meeting him back in 2010 at Georgia State, he had such a vibrant positive personality.  

I have nothing but great memories when it came to Sloan from meeting each other at the Georgia State Lofts to watching Falcons play and messaging each other regularly.

Sloan, we miss you so much, you were a light to all of us.  You were truly a gem and I can't express how impactful you were not just to me but to all of us.  Rest easy brother.

Sloan and I had met up in Chicago for Christmas 2020 back during Covid. It was easily the best trip of my life and undoubtedly he made sure it was. We saw The Bean, The Sears Tower, and stayed on the Magnificent Mile. I’ll never forget this trip or any of the other ones we took. I miss you buddy, now and always. One Love 💙

I'm so sorry to hear about Sloan's passing. Please know that I will be praying for the repose of his soul and for comfort for his family and friends, particularly his mom and brother. I remember Sloane fondly from his time in my classroom at Christ the King School.
