On Wednesday, March 9, 2022 our Mother, Judith Monge passed away. She leaves behind a legacy of love, a full life and laughter. She is survived by her son Kirk, his wife Laura, her daughter Crystal and her wife Lisa and her youngest, Judith and her husband Vincent, along with her six grandsons, Nico, Dean, Vincent, Giancarlo, Christian and Aidan.
She was a proud Brooklyn resident. She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology.(FIT)and was a master seamstress. She often worked with Broadway stars such as Shelly Winters and Michelle Lee. She used those same skills to ensure her children always had the most fantastic Halloween costumes.
In her mid-life she enjoyed traveling, and for a time worked the cruise lines as the arts and crafts director. She lived between Brooklyn and what she called paradise...her beloved Puerto Rico. In retirement she took up gardening and painting. Her garden was a delight to the neighbors in Brooklyn and her paintings hung in the San Juan Museum for showings.
She was known to her family and many others as Grandma Puerto Rico. She loved her family with intention and purpose, the purpose to lead by example, showing that family is all that really matters in life and she truly believed that life was an extraordinary gift that should be unwrapped and enjoyed everyday.
She will be missed, but never forgotten.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.woodstockfuneralhome.com for the Monge family.
