Mr. Bobby Lamar Ayers, 80, of Woodstock, GA passed away December 9, 2017. Lamar was born on March 10, 1937 in Rome, GA to the late Hubert and Marie Ayers. Lamar served in the Air National Guard. He worked for Eastern Airlines in reservations. With his son-in-law Stewart, Lamar started Mulch Man, a landscaping supply company.
He enjoyed many outdoor activities that included fishing, hiking, gold panning and hunting. He had a keen eye and often found arrowheads and pieces of pottery. He was a kind and generous man and everyone he met thought highly of him. Lamar loved to laugh and was always thinking of some joke to play on those around him, though they were always done in a spirit of fun. You never knew what he was going to come up with next. He was selfless in his actions and was a loving husband, daddy, papa and poppa to his family.
Lamar leaves behind his wife of 59 loving years, Mary Ayers; daughters, Anita Geoghagan (Stewart) and Angela Atkinson (Ken); grandchildren, Rachel Cox (Justin), Emily Geoghagan, Ashley Atkinson and Haley Atkinson; great-grandson, Wyatt Cox; brothers, Jerry Ayers (Genie) and Larry Ayers (Charlotte); aunt, Doris Rowland; and many loving nieces and nephew.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home with a reception to follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
