Leighanne was born on July 26, 1983 to Mickey and Marlene at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. At only three years old, Leighanne could be found tinkering under trucks by her dad’s side. He and Ms. Marlene instilled so many joys of being a true southerner into Leighanne: working on your own truck, being able to cook a mean sweet potato pie and tending to her garden.
She had a sweet, bubbly disposition that carried on into adulthood. She grew up with her cousins that she loved like sisters, Mary Anne and Christy. She loved spending time with her family and would often be found at her father’s pool on the weekends or getting a bite of hard candy from her “Granddaddy” Purvis at “Mammy” Purvis’ home over the summer. Her free spirit shined brightest when riding in her Jeep Wrangler with the top down and her hair blowing in the wind.
Leighanne often rescued the undesirable mutts, dogs with disabilities or strays that needed a loving hand. She also had a loving heart towards her friends and family. She enjoyed hosting get-togethers at home, finding ways to connect with others and genuinely trying to improve people’s lives around her. Leighanne had an unforgettable smile and contagious laughter that all of her friends will be able to treasure.
Leighanne was considerate and never one to complain. She worked at Nalley Automotive where she ultimately worked as a collision specialist. In her spare time, she crafted projects, quilted and rooted for UGA every chance she got. Most recently, Leighanne learned to fish and was proud of her pink fishing pole.
Leighanne’s memory will be cherished by her father, Mickey Purvis and his wife, Carol; mother, Marlene McPhetridge; brother, Chris Delarm and his partner, Urvi Ruparelia; grandmother, Marjorie Pyle; fiancé, David Carver; niece, Morgan Delarm; nephew, Devon Delarm; many loving aunts, uncles and cousins; countless friends; and her sweet furbaby, “Gooch.”
Her family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Woodstock Funeral Home in Woodstock, Georgia with a Time of Shared Reflections at 6:00 pm in the Reece Memorial Chapel.
