Born November 18, 1932, Died September 9, 2014
Margie passed away quietly with family after living a life of service and kindness to her family and friends. Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Fredrick and Ursula Butikofer November 18, 1932. She grew up working with her parents on the farm and developed the independent, self reliance that was exhibited throughout her life. She graduated from Uconn high school in 1951 and married Marvin Dean Fox on May 27, 1955. Marvin was serving in the Air Force and had many solo assignments where families weren't allowed to accompany so Margie's independence was tested. Alan was born in March of 1956 and shortly afterwards in 1957 a daughter, Terri Diana, was born. Being in the armed forces gave the family opportunities to visit different parts of the country, living in Alabama, Florida, Idaho, Nevada and finally retiring in Arizona. In 1965, Vickie was born in Florida and while in Florida, Margie attended cosmetology school and started a long career as a beautician. Working with her hands and creating beauty was a characteristic she displayed through sewing and knitting through out her life she continued making clothes, costumes, and valued knitted slippers for her children and grandchildren.
Along with serving her family Margie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints, the Mormon church, serving as a Primary teacher, teaching sewing and hair care to the young women, and helping other members as a librarian for many years. In 1980 Margie and Marvin were divorced and Margie continued to live in Phoenix until Vickie was able to have children after many prayers. Margie quickly picked up everything and headed to Georgia to help care for the twins, LA and Reagan, and stayed in Georgia until her passing of pancreatic cancer. Once again her compassion for her family was evident in her service.
Margie is survived by her sisters Donna (Jack) Clayton and Linda Butikofer, children Alan (Joycelyn) Fox, Terri Diana (Michael) Garcia, and Vickie Kimberly (Russell) Isham. She has eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held next summer at a place that Margie thought was the most beautiful place on earth, Jenny Lake at the foot of the Teton Mountains.
