Born on January 10, 1943, in Memphis, Tennessee, she was the beloved daughter of Jesse Mayes Dunlap and Mary Ruth Langley. Patricia, known fondly as “Patt,” grew up in Memphis and attended Memphis State University, now the University of Memphis.
Patt began her career in 1964 as a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines, a role that reflected her lifelong love of travel and adventure. On March 24, 1966, she married the love of her life, Curtis Norred, in Japan, where he was stationed as a U.S. Marine.
In the summer of 1967, the couple settled in Miami, Florida, where they raised two daughters. Patt devoted her early years to being a stay-at-home mom and later found great success as a real estate agent, earning a reputation for her professionalism and warm, engaging manner.
The family moved many times over the years before finally settling in Woodstock, Georgia, in 2006. Throughout her life, Patt was a tireless supporter of charitable causes. She was an active member of the Memphis Symphony League and known for her remarkable talent in fundraising, often sought after by other philanthropic organizations.
Patt served as President of Delta Clipped Wings, a group that supports numerous local charities and helps welcome airline personnel across companies. She was also a proud member of the English-Speaking Union, enriching the lives of students, educators, and language learners, and an engaged member of the Coral Gables Junior Women's League, which advances women’s leadership through service and education.
An accomplished cook, Patt took lessons from chefs trained by Le Cordon Bleu and delighted in hosting unforgettable gatherings. She was full of life, humor, and grace, someone who brought joy to every room she entered. She loved music and dancing and was always playing something beautiful. She was an avid tennis player, snow skier, water skier, and boater—especially during her years in Miami.
Patt cherished her family above all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mary Ruth Dunlap. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Curtis Norred; her loving daughters, Lainie Norred Gilroy (John) and Shelby Norred; and her adored grandchildren, Conor Gilroy and Campbell Gilroy. She is also survived by her brother, Danny Dunlap (Janie), her sister-in-law Bonita Jones, and many nieces, nephews, and their children, whom she loved dearly and who loved her in return.
Patt will be remembered for her generosity, warmth, humor, and vibrant spirit. Her legacy of love, service, and laughter will live on in all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Patt to Safe Space, Delta's Clipped Wings, Noah's Ark, or your local animal shelter.
