Richard is survived by his spouse, Maria Whitaker; his daughter Tiffany Whitaker; and his son David Whitaker; his father Hubert Whitaker.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother Mildred Whitaker.
Richard enjoyed disco, skating, 70's music and spending time with his family. Richard spent the majority his life serving this country (Navy Vet) and then 30 plus years as a Cobb County Police Officer serving the communities of Cobb County.
A visitation for Richard will be held Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, GA 30188, followed by a funeral service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
