Cecil Rhodes Greer III, aka Rusty Greer, 64, of Woodstock, Georgia passed away July 5, 2021. He was born on May 5, 1957 in Charlottesville, Virginia to the late Cecil Rhodes Greer II and Catherine Frowery “Kay” Greer.
Throughout Rusty’s childhood, his family lived in many places in the northeastern United States. They eventually settled for a time in Louisville, Kentucky where Rusty graduated from St. Xavier High School. It was there that he met one of his oldest and dearest friends, Chris Klapheke, forming a bond between families that will persist long after his passing. Rusty was very passionate and creative and he earned his bachelor’s degree in drama from the University of Virginia. After a number of varied post-college job experiences, he then went on to earn his MBA, eventually becoming a career business consultant and working his way up to the position of senior manager and U.S. Lead of Coaching and Project Launch Services for Deloitte Consulting.
Rusty truly lived a “work hard, play harder” lifestyle. He was a dedicated Indiana Hoosier fan and IU basketball was a constant topic of discussion. He also loved to hit the course for a round of disc golf with family and will always be remembered for being a “big kid”. Rusty always put his family first and enjoyed taking them out to explore nature, to classic rock and soul concerts, and to the best restaurants. He loved music and some of his many favorite artists included the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Depeche Mode and Aretha Franklin, all of which he was able to take his family to see perform. He loved to laugh and enjoy “good times with people you love”; it was one of his favorite toasts to make. In life, Rusty joked with his kids that they should “go large, or don’t go at all”.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 14 years, Ana Raquel Rosales; children, Megan Elizabeth Greer and William Rhodes Greer; brother, Michael Greer; and much adored “grand-dog-son”, Zeus. Rusty was reunited in heaven with his parents, Kay and Rhodes and his sister, Susan Frowery Northington.
A Catholic Mass will be held in his memory on Saturday, July 17th, at Our Lady of La Salette Catholic Church, located at 2941 Sam Nelson Rd. in Canton, Georgia. The service beginning at 2 p.m. EST will last approximately 45 minutes and will be followed by refreshments at the adjacent on-site Parish Center lasting until 4:15 p.m. Rusty touched many lives in his time with us and the family welcomes any who wish to come and pay their respects.
