

Thomas M. Tillison of Woodstock, Georgia passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2013. Tom was born on May 15, 1927 in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Russell High School in Atlanta in 1945 and served in the United States Marine Corps. He joined Southern Railway Company in 1946 and rose through the ranks to retire as General Superintendent of Safety for western lines Norfolk Southern in 1987 with 41 years of service. Tom was an avid gardener, outdoorsman and golfer. He was an active member of the East Cobb Golf Club through February of 2013, and had scored two holes-in-one in tournament play with the club in recent years. Tom was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge, an honorary member of the Woodstock Lodge #246 F&AM and recently celebrated his 60th year as Past Master of the original Inman Lodge (now Mableton Lodge #171 F&AM). Tom was preceded in death by his father, Marion DeWitt Tillison, his mother Helen Ivie Tillison and his brother, Giles E. Tillison. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anne Bennett Tillison, his son Howard (Diane), and brothers and sisters Marie Williams (Albert), Cynthia Millwood, Lamar Tillison (Helen), Ruth Waits, Eleanor Henderson, Lowery Tillison (Sonya) and Lois Spradley (Ernie). Survivors also include sister-in-law Joyce Tillison and many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A Celebration of life Service will be held Monday, April 1, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Woodstock Funeral Home Chapel, Rev.Russell Patterson will be conducting the services assisted by Rev. Ron Swafford and Rev. Claude E. Smithmier. Interment will follow at Enon Cemetery in Woodstock. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 31, 2013 from 3 until 6 pm at the funeral home.
