Brenda Kausek

Kausek, Brenda C., age 75, of Pickerington, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on July 5, 1947, in Ulysses, Kentucky, to the late Dolph and Monnie (Borders) Slone. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Deborah Tomblin, D. Jane Snead, and Carla O’Malley.

Brenda was a joyful and loving child. From a very young age, she was passionate about cooking and sewing. She enjoyed gardening, genealogy, and was an avid bird watcher. She was married to the love of her life, Doug, for 52 years and raised 3 children together in Somerset Ohio.

Brenda was a kind, loving and patient mother. When her children were young, the phrase “stay-at-home-mom” was not commonly referred to. It wasn’t unusual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked. But even by the standards of the era, Brenda was an exceptional wife and mother. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband Doug; daughters, Kristina (Jay) Allwood and Sarah (Jason) Baughman; her son, Zak (Cassie) Kausek; and seven grandchildren, Madison, Adisen, Blake, Brooke, Sydney, Isaac, and Brayden.

The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation for the staff at Kemper House for the wonderful care they provided our family these past six months.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 5pm until 7pm, at the Schoedinger Worthington Funeral Home, 6699 North High St., Worthington OH, 43085. A private Graveside Service will be held on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Brenda’s name may be made to the Ohio Wildlife Center.
