Dana Anne Burris, 47, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2026, leaving behind a family and community who loved her deeply and will forever feel the impact of her vibrant spirit.
Dana was born on August 13, 1978, in Columbus, Ohio, to Michael and Suzan Burris. From an early age, Dana was a force of personality — bright, expressive, creative, and full of life. She had a big laugh, a bold spirit, and a presence that filled every room she entered.
Dana had a deep love for music and the arts. She was a gifted singer and musician who played both piano and guitar. Worship music held a special place in her heart, and she loved singing and performing songs that expressed her faith. Dana especially loved musical theater and could often be found singing songs from Wicked or The Phantom of the Opera simply for the joy of it.
A devoted Christian, Dana’s faith guided the way she lived her life with kindness, compassion, and a genuine love for people.
Dana was adventurous and curious about the world. She attended college in Australia, where she earned her degree in psychology. Her time there became one of the great joys of her life, and she often spoke fondly of the country, its people, and its culture. She loved to travel and explore new places and dreamed of spending time traveling the world, experiencing different cultures and cuisines.
Professionally, Dana worked for the Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC), where she was known for her dedication, intelligence, and strong personality.
Dana was also deeply creative. She enjoyed art, pottery, journaling, and collecting beautiful notebooks and pens. She had a unique sense of style that blended mid-century modern with bohemian influences.
She loved the simple joys of life, such as Christmas traditions and board and card games with family and friends. One of her favorite phrases, echoing her dad, was, “I heard me first!” when playing a family favorite game of Shanghai.
She also enjoyed favorite shows like Friends and the best one of them all, The Golden Girls! She loved sharing laughter with the people she loved. She enjoyed good food, charcuterie boards, and discovering new flavors from around the world.
Dana adored animals, especially dachshunds, and had a playful sense of humor that made those around her feel instantly at ease. She had a big heart and cared deeply for others.
Dana is reunited in heaven with her beloved parents, Michael and Suzan Burris.
She is survived by her loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends, who will carry her memory in their hearts always.
Dana lived boldly, loved deeply, and left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her. Her voice, laughter, and bright spirit will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
In honor of Dana’s adventurous spirit, those who knew and loved her are encouraged to travel, sing loudly, and embrace life fully, just as she did!
