Later, he became a Special Project Manager for the Director at Montgomery County Children's Services. As a Certified Mediator, Licensed Social Worker, and trained Hypnotherapist, James brought professional expertise and heartfelt compassion to everyone he served.
While stationed at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, he was invited to join as a member of the San Antonio Master Singers, bringing joy through music to countless audiences.
His spiritual life was the cornerstone of his existence. He spent many years leading religious education and Bible study, and enriched Catholic communities through his participation in music liturgy, as a lector, and lay minister at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and beyond.
James shared a love of science and engineering with his children, nurturing their curiosity and wonder about the world. A passionate woodworker, he dedicated countless hours to his craft, creating beautiful toys for children with meticulous care and love. He was a devoted volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul in Dayton and Patriot Ridge Nursing Home in Fairborn, bringing comfort and companionship to those in need. He also supported fellow veterans, volunteering at his local VA hospitals.
A passionate Cleveland Browns fan and devoted follower of University of Dayton sports, James carried his enthusiasm and optimism into everything he did.
