Joan Hawley

Joan Marie (Weingartner) Hawley born June 5th, 1965, in Hamilton County, OH. On May 3rd, 2022, Joan died suddenly at the age of 56. A resident of Westerville, OH, she was very happily married to her husband of 27 years, Michael Hawley. Most of Joan’s surviving family are at home in Cincinnati while Michael’s immediate family members reside in Georgia or Washington state. A graduate of University of Cincinnati’s DAAP program, Joan was known to her family and friends as a creative, independent, and entrepreneurial woman who founded and ran Lazy Girl Designs, an innovative and successful online pattern, sewing & quilting business. Joan was both a gifted designer and an excellent instructor, beloved by her customers and patrons for her cheerful, encouraging, and inspirational approach to the artistic craft she so dearly loved. In honoring Joan’s wishes, she will be cremated, a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers and gifts please consider remembering Joan by her generous spirit.
