

Karen Kay Herron, 89, of Columbus, passed away on May 17, 2026. She was born in Springfield, Ohio to the late Jacob and Gladys (Myers) McCoy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joann Watkins, and her step-mother, Ero Scott McCoy.
Karen graduated from Marysville High School and earned her Registered Nursing degree from Deaconess College of Nursing. She devoted her professional career to nursing until her retirement. Karen loved cooking and hosting gatherings for family and friends, was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan, and cherished spending winters as a snowbird at their home in Bradenton every winter.
Karen will be deeply missed by her husband of 63 years, James “Jim” Herron; her daughter, Jamie, and grandchildren, Hannah and Dylan; and her son, Michael, his wife, Jodi, and grandson, Alex.
A funeral service celebrating Karen’s life will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 11:00am at Schoedinger Worthington. Her family will receive friends that morning from 10am until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Flint Cemetery.
