Linda Joyce (Fetzer) Slicker, age 82, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by love from her two daughters and sister on May 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, grace, and joy. Born on April 26, 1943, and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Linda spent her life cultivating deep connections, nurturing young minds, and savoring the beauty in life’s small details.
Linda’s heart was always with her family. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Slicker, on June 12, 1965, and together they shared 60 years of devotion, laughter, and partnership. She found great purpose and joy in her role as wife, mother, and eventually, proud “Grammy.” Her daughters, Cynthia and Laura, and grandchildren, Quinn and Elizabeth, were her world, and she showed her love through the little things—handwritten notes, holiday traditions, and carefully chosen gifts that always made people feel known and loved.
A passionate educator, Linda graduated from the University of Toledo in 1965 with a Bachelor of Education and began her career at Beverly Elementary teaching the 3rd grade. She returned to teaching later in life at Worthington Preschool, where she brought patience, creativity, and genuine care to every child she taught. After retiring from teaching, she continued giving her time and talents as an Administrative Assistant in the preschool office. In later years, she spent her time volunteering at the Worthington Presbyterian Church office.
Linda’s joy for life extended to everything she touched—whether it was preparing a beautifully set table for a family gathering or book club, organizing the perfect holiday, or simply making her home a welcoming, peaceful haven. She loved music, often filling her home with the sound of piano. She actively participated in church music programs, leading handbell choirs, playing the organ and singing in the choir. She treasured her friendships, including her cherished weekly Saturday morning phone calls with her best friend of over 70 years, Carolyn Klostermeier.
Her hobbies were many—baking, cooking, gardening, reading, and traveling—and she threw herself into each one with enthusiasm and an eye for detail. A proud “neat freak” with a flair for hospitality, she was lovingly known as the “hostess with the mostest”. Linda brought joy, kindness, and a touch of sparkle wherever she went.
Linda is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert, and her parents Charles and Virginia (Greulich) Fetzer. She is survived by her daughters Cynthia (Michael) Woodruff and Laura Mottice; son-in-law Robert Mottice; grandchildren Quinn and Elizabeth Mottice; bonus grandchildren Ashlyn and Austin Woodruff; sister Carol (Foster) Dreier; brother Phillip Fetzer; niece Joelle (Robert) Shearin; nephew Jason (Ursula) Dreier; godson Timothy Klostermeier and goddaughter Kimberly Kilby.
Linda will be remembered for her joyful spirit, gracious presence, and the way she made others feel special—just by being herself. She had a unique ability to make everyday moments meaningful and to turn gatherings into cherished memories.
A joyful celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the Worthington Presbyterian Church, 773 North High Street, Worthington, at 11am.
