Matthew Swearingen

Born on April 23, 1969 in Columbus, Ohio to parents T-Rodney Swearingen and Cynthia Hirni Raines. Matt is survived by his wife Rebecca (Johnston) and children Macey and Chase and his beloved dogs Dexter and Penny; father and stepmother Rod and Ann Swearingen; mother and stepfather Cynthia and Robert Raines; in-laws William and Connie Johnston; siblings Sally Swearingen (Fritz Matter); Dan Ream (Linda) and children; step-brother Bob Raines (Deb) and children; Barbara Raines (Lori); Nancy Raines (Juan Carlos Arean) and children. Predeceased by stepbrother Douglas Ream and stepsister Kathy Wright. Matt Graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1987 and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Franklin University. His work career included real estate, many years in the mortgage industry, United Healthcare and Aetna as a National Sales Director. He was a long-time member of First Community Church, earning his Block of Wood, 7-Keys and serving as a Camp Akita Counselor. He loved sports and spent many hours and weekends watching his children at swim meets. Family will receive friends 3:00pm – 6:00pm on December 26 at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 North High Street with a reception to celebrate his life. Celebration of Life service will be at 11:00am at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd. 43212. Interment to follow at Otterbein Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Camp Akita, c/o First Community Church, or Pets Without Parents, 629 Oakland Park Ave, Columbus, OH 43214, in Matt’s memory.
