
Richard Dean Shock, age 87, of Columbus, died peacefully Monday, December 22, 2025. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Ohio State University. He had early career positions at Central Mutual Insurance Company, Van Wert, OH; Lumberman’s Mutual Insurance Company, Columbus, OH; BP Oil Company, Columbus and Cleveland, OH. In 1974 he served as Manager of Employee Benefits for six years at Hobart Corporation in Troy, OH before joining American Electric Power in 1980. At AEP, he served as Director of Employee Benefits, for 23 years before retiring in 2003. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Grace Shock of Van Wert, OH and sister Margie Clark and brother-in-law John Clark of Delphos, OH. Surviving Dick are his loving wife of 60 years, Diane; two children, Cynthia (Dale) Minyo of Mt. Gilead, OH and Laura Shock of Columbus, OH; four grandsons, Kyle (Morgan) Minyo, Ryan (Makayla) Minyo and Thomas and Joseph Scherer; great grandson, Zane Minyo and nieces and nephews. Dick was a devoted family man. His children and grandchildren will take with them his love and attention and the many ways he helped them throughout their lives. While Dick enjoyed fishing, woodworking, remodeling and building homes, above all he valued his family. The family will have a private celebration of life followed by interment in the Worthington Church columbarium. Those who choose may make donations to the Worthington Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund in his memory
