

Sammie Lou Daniell, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 99 on January 18, 2025. She was born on December 4, 1925, into the large and loving family of Herman and Ruby Didday of Batavia, Ohio
A proud alumna of Batavia High School, Sammie Lou distinguished herself as a key player on the basketball team and later as head cheerleader. Her academic journey continued at Miami University, where she studied Business Administration.
Sammie Lou's professional life was marked by her dedicated 16-year tenure with Columbus Planned Parenthood, where she served as the Fundraising Chair and took immense pride in the positive impact the organization had on countless women's lives.
Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional life. A devoted member of Summit United Methodist Church, she actively participated in numerous church roles and contributed many hours of volunteer work. She was also a passionate volunteer with the Riverside Sewing Guild, making comfort care items for Riverside Methodist Hospital.
Sammie Lou was known for her love of reading, cheering for OSU sports, babysitting her grandchildren, playing cards, participating in league bowling, and traveling.
She is preceded in death by her cherished husband, Donald Daniell. Sammie Lou is survived by her children Deborah (Frederick) Blanchard, Pamela (John) Cress, Sheryl Romohr, and Steven (Patricia) Romohr; her grandchildren Chris (Lauren) Blanchard, Ali (Kyle) Gibson, Jodie (Mark) Phelan, Sarah (Andrew) Romohr, Rebecca Romohr, Paige McGinley, Johanna McGinley, Jeremy (Jodi) Cress, Jennifer (Ryan) Scarberry, and Julie (Jason) Rupe, and her great-grandchildren Caleb/Grey, Dylan, Sienna, Adalyn, and Caden. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation for Sammie will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N High Street, Worthington, OH 43085, followed by a funeral service from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
