Sharon Lynne (Eisel) Smith passed peacefully at home into the arms of her Savior on March 14, 2026 at the age of 85 after a short illness. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sharon was born on May 19, 1940 to Katherine (O’Hearn) and Arthur Eisel.
Sharon was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy in Columbus, Ohio and attended the Ohio State University before entering the plumbing industry. Sharon began her plumbing career in inventory control before becoming one of the first female counterpersons in the industry. She worked her way up through almost every job in a supply house including General Manager at Westwater Supply Corporation, which she led for many years. While crafting success in her career, Sharon always prioritized caring for her family first, including her husband, four children, and young sister-in law (Melanie). Sharon received great joy from her four grandchildren, and eventually, eleven great-grandchildren who were the light of her life in her later years.
On a quiet night or rainy afternoon, you would find Sharon buried deep in a book or watching a movie. A spring day would mean planting flowers everywhere she could fit them (though she loved the results so much more than the planting!). Every birthday and holiday was a celebration for Sharon, with the 4th of July coming in second only to her beloved Christmas. As with spring flowers, no surface in her home was left untouched when it came to Christmas decorations and no cookie was left unbaked. There was always a large box waiting for each family member to pack up their favorite cookies at the end of Christmas Day. Her cheese soup was the family staple at Christmas and everyone looked forward to enjoying it during intermission (yes, intermission!) when opening our presents.
Sharon’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life rather than the sadness of her passing. She is preceded in death by her husband Rodney and two sons, Mark Smith and Martin “Andy” Smith. Sharon is survived by her son, Michael “Mike” Smith and his wife Hilda; daughter, Michelle “Shelly” Smith; former daughter-in-law Jenny Miller; grandchildren David (Lauren) Smith, Elizabeth Smith, Matthew (Lorri) Smith and Charles (Olivia) Smith, and an abundance of great-grandchildren. Sharon’s legacy of love will forever live in our hearts, and the profound impact she had on our lives will never fade.
A Memorial Service will be held at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085, on March 26, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. and a visitation will follow until 7:00 p.m. Flowers and memorial gifts are welcome but not necessary. Donations to St. Jude or Choices for Victims of Domestic Violence may be made in lieu of flowers.
