Susan VanDeWalle Taylor, 74, of Worthington, Ohio passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Susan is survived by her beloved sons Donald “Eddie” and Lee Taylor, nieces, nephews, cousins and cherished cat Ebone. She is preceded in death by her parents Achiel O. and Kathryn VanDeWalle and brothers Robert “Bobby” and Lynn VanDeWalle.
Susan loved decorating her home, flower arranging and was an avid gardener. She looked forward to springtime each year to visit the local garden centers to buy flowers and plants for her yard. Susan loved collecting P. Buckley Moss art and enjoyed meeting with Ms. Moss when she would make her visits to Ohio. Susan got her love of baking from her mother and was famous for her delicious cheesecakes. Susan’s son Lee always looked forward to Valentine’s Day each year and would ask her to make her heart shaped sugar cookies to take to all his friends at his day program. Susan of course, was always happy to oblige. Susan’s greatest devotion was to her sons; she spent her life making sure they were supported, celebrated, and able to live their lives to the fullest.
Susan’s family and friends extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Claremont Retirement Village for their compassionate and attentive care, with special appreciation to Nurse Naomi Robertson for the extraordinary kindness she showed. We would also like to thank Andrea, Heidi, Courtney and the team with Luminary Hospice.
A special thank you to Zainab “Zee” Kebbie whose steady, loving care of Eddie and Lee is a blessing beyond measure and has meant more than words can express.
Caring cremation has taken place through Schoedinger Funeral Homes. A graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens will be planned for a later date, when family and friends can gather to honor her life.
