

Sylvia Weed, 96, of Columbus, passed away on April 28, 2023. She was born on September 11, 1926, in Altoona, PA, to the late Boyd and Margaret (Ziegler) Yearick. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Weed; and her siblings, Mildred (Guy) Stutzman and Leonard (Virginia) Yearick.
Sylvia attended Penn State University and graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Education. She was a lifelong educator and taught for many years at the Tree of Life Christian School in Columbus. Her special expertise was German, and she enjoyed leading trips to Europe with students, parents, and staff. In addition to travel, she enjoyed reading, writing poetry, and creating children’s stories (and firmly believed in the Oxford comma). She loved spending time at the family’s homestead farm in central Pennsylvania, where family and friends were always welcome to visit.
Sylvia will be greatly missed by her children, David (Eileen) Weed, Douglas (Jodie Mitchell) Weed, and Kathryn (Andrei) Jablokow; grandchildren, Christopher (Jennifer Campbell) Weed, Shelly (Nathan) Sanders, Paige (Ben) Hester, Nicole (Max) Hanna, Sarah (Dave Buchanan) Mitchell-Weed, Stefan Jablokow, and Peter Jablokow; her 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.
A visitation for Sylvia will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N High Street, Worthington, Ohio, 43085, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
A second visitation for Sylvia will be held Saturday, May 13, at Singer-Kader-Neff Funeral Home in Howard, PA. Burial will take place at Schencks Cemetery, Howard, PA.
