

Dr. William F. Munsey is a native of Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from Columbus North High School and then attended Capital University for his pre-podiatry education. He earned his DPM degree at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. This was followed by a six-month internship with Dr. D. Wayne Myers of Lima, Ohio.
Dr. Munsey opened his practice in Worthington where he practiced for forty years, providing general and surgical podiatric care until his retirement in 1996.
He had an active role in podiatry association affairs. He served as president and chairman of the board of trustees for the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association and was later elected President of the American Podiatric Medical Association. He also served as President of Podiatry Insurance Company of America before becoming Vice President for over a decade. He was also the President of the Fund for Podiatry Education and Research and was a board member for over 10 years. He was an active member of the APMA House of Delegates for over 4 decades, serving as Protocol Officer twice and Speaker of the House from 1999 to 2006.
Dr. Munsey has been the recipient of many honors and awards: “Man of the Year Award” 1967 by the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association; “Distinguished Alumnus Award” 1979 Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine; “Kennison Award” 1983 presented by The American Podiatric Medical Students Association; “Podiatrist of the Tear Award”, 1989 by the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association; he was inducted into the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine Hall of Fame, 2011 and presented with the William F. Munsey Leadership Award, presented annually to a student at the graduation exercises of the Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine. The culmination of his career was being awarded a Distinguished Service Citation from the American Podiatric Medical Association in 2009. He has authored several articles and books and has been the editor of the APMA News, Insurance Advisor for twenty-five years.
He was an avid fisherman who spent many days on the shores or wading at his favorite place at Mount Vernon on the Kokosing River. He also enjoyed hunting and had the opportunity to harvest the 5 big game challenges in North America, including elk, caribou, moose, deer, and bear. He and Danna enjoyed traveling to over 40 countries, several on mission trips.
William has been an active member of The Grace Brethren Church of Columbus, Ohio. He served as an Executive Deacon and has been and Elder since 1990. He began the Finance Committee and served for several years. He has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Grace College and Seminary for seventeen years, including as vice-chairman for six years.
Dr. Munsey was married to his first wife Helen Jarvis until her death in 1989. They had 2 daughters, Gina Marie Munsey (John) Carlin and Sue Ellen Munsey (Steve) Gimmi. He has two grandchildren, Elizabeth Gimmi and Alex Gimmi, and one great grandchild, Asher 2 ½. He was married to Danna Sims Dodd in 1990.
