Adeline “Addie” Neveu (Tessier) was born to Albert and Mary Tessier (Heintz) in Vernonia, Oregon, June 14, 1924. The family moved to Yakima in the early 1930’s, and mom graduated from Yakima High (A.C. Davis) in June, 1941. She and George Neveu were married in June 1941 and immediately moved to Monterey, California where Dad was stationed at Fort Ord for several months prior to Dad being shipped to Europe at the start of WWII. At that point Mom moved back with her parents in Yakima and was employed by Sears Roebuck. Dennis was born in April of 1943 while Dad was still overseas. Dad returned in 1946, Cheri and Greg followed in 1946 and 1949.
Early in the 1950’s she and Dad purchased a little five acre parcel on Lower Ahtanum Road. There was a 100+ year old Armstrong Mansion on the property, where the family lived for a couple years and then they tore it down and built a brick rambler. In fall of 1960 the family moved to San Jose, CA where she was employed by Hewlett-Packard for four years before relocating back to Yakima in 1965. She then worked at Memorial Hospital in the Pharmacy, becoming the first Pharmacy Tech in the state of Washington, retiring with 36 years of service. She was a licensed massage therapist with a private practice until well into her 70’s. She visited India on several occasions to study East Indian religion. Mom was very interested in New Age philosophies and had many memorable experiences.
Addie loved to travel and for a period of time during the 80’s she was co-owner of an 18-passenger aircraft with several other friends. They took many trips around the Northwest, Canada and Alaska.
Addie was preceded in death by her husband George in 1978, son Gregory in June of 2016, and her parents Albert and Mary.
Survivors include a son, Dennis (Patricia) Neveu, a daughter, Cheri Neveu, daughter-in-law Tammy Neveu, plus five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, all of Yakima, and a sister, Aurelie of Arizona.
A special thanks to all the care staff at Fieldstone Memory Care, Yakima, for their devoted and excellent care. She was truly blessed to be able to reside there.
There will be no services; at her request, she will be at rest with her husband at Calvary Cemetery in Yakima. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to Yakima Humane Society.
