Alan Michael Norman

Alan was born on June 23, 1944 in Seattle, and grew up in Yakima with his mother Laura and father Jess. He graduated from Davis in ’63. In ’64, he met his best friend Gail and was with her for 44 years and raised two daughters, Jamie and Sammie. During this time he enjoyed camping, jeeping, snowmobiling, fishing, boating, hunting and spending as much time as possible with his family and friends. Alan and Gail moved to the home they built in 1996, and enjoyed the country with his horses, dogs, yard work and walking the grandkids to the creek.

Alan worked throughout the Northwest as well as all the Yakima Valley as a pipe fitter with the local Pipe Fitters Union 598. He retired from Central Washington Refrigeration in ’06 as an engineer and salesman for Terry Campbell. After his retirement, his life was filled with so much joy with his Buddy Bryan (Martin). The both of them spent endless hours in “the shop” working on the snowmobiles with an occasional cocktail, lots of barbequing and elk hunting were also spent with many of their close friends. Alan traveled many placed in his later years including Las Vegas, Canada, Mexico, Dominican Republic, just to name a few. He shared endless adventures with his long time friend Gary and great friend Teresa.

Alan leaves behind daughters, Jamie Norman Smith and her husband Richard , and Nancy “Sam” Willingham and her husband Garland: four granddaughters, Parker, LeAnne, Rayahna, and Alyssa; sisters, Nancy and Jotti; brother, Pat; nephews, and nieces; and not to forget, all the friends in the Yakima Valley and Wiley City. Alan is preceded in death by his wife Gail, mother Laura, father Jess, brother Ward and nephew Peter.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday March 5, 2012 at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday March 6th also at the funeral home, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
