Anna Pauline Smith was born Nov 8, 1918 in Council Bluff Iowa to Nancy Elvira and Harry Smith. She passed away March 24, 2013 in Union Gap. She had one older sister, Ruth. She married Bud Lund in Wenatchee Jan 17, 1938; he died in 1981.
Judy Camille and Mona Lee were their two daughters. She gave loving care to Judy, who had special needs, until her death at age 51. Mona and Larry Wandling live in West Virginia.
Her husband Bud was an entrepreneur, he owned meat markets, barbered and raised quarter horses that they raced in Santa Ana CA. Pauline was an enthusiastic partner in many of these adventures. They taught their daughter excellent work ethics
She always liked beautiful “bling” jewelry, a trait from her mother and passed down to her daughter. Pauline always had a hobby going; she enjoyed sewing, gardening, arrow head and rock hunting as well as mushrooming. She was an excellent cook; a favorite was Norwegian flat bread, roast beef, mashed potatoes and brown gravy.
In earlier days, she would send “Grandma Lund boxes” to the grandkids. These much anticipated boxes were filled with surprises for everyone. More recently, each Christmas the four granddaughters: Suzi Mooney, Crissi Mercer, Wendy Harris Jenny Tincher and their families gathered at their parent’s house in West VA to wrap small gifts to send to their Grandma Lund so she could open a present a day for the 25 days of Christmas.
Pauline lived in Parkside Nursing Home for over 10 years. She was a much loved member of this community. She had many friends there.
She and Jane Ryder developed a friendship and Jane became her “Yakima family” during weekly visits. Pauline has four granddaughters, and their spouses, eight great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and one great great grandchild due in August.
Pauline could make everyone laugh; she was a peace maker and could make everyone feel comfortable. She was a very strong lady.
