

Audrey was born on February 5, 1926 in Cowiche, WA to Paul and Elsie (Smith) Foster. She graduated from Cowiche High School in 1944, where she was a member of the Victory Corps. In her Senior year, the Corps raised $5,852 (about $77,000 today) to buy War Bonds by auctioning items such as Bing Crosby’s autographed handkerchief and a pinup of Betty Grable.
She married her high school sweetheart, Shelby James “Jim” Waters on September 5, 1946 in Yakima, WA after he served in WWII. Audrey was a homemaker, apple packer, and later worked with Jim on the family ranch. She was a member of the Lower Naches Women’s Club. Audrey was an accomplished quilter and enjoyed travel, sewing, reading and jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Steve and Donna Waters of Santa Cruz, CA; two granddaughters and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby James Waters on June 23, 2003; son James Dale Waters; her brothers, Forrest and Kenneth Foster and her parents.
Audrey’s family would like to give special thanks to caregiver, Carroll Tiller, along with the staff of Chesterly Meadows for the tender care she received in her final years.
Visitation will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Friday, January 24, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at Keith & Keith Funeral Home on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
Private inurnment will be at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
