Billy "Don" Underwood

He was born to Howard L. Underwood and Cleto Underwood (Awbrey) at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital on February 5, 1942. Don was educated in Highland School District and attended YVCC and CWU. In 1969, he met and married Jeanne Geike. They had two sons, Jason and Scott (Emily) and two grandchildren, Mia and Adin. He is also survived by his brother, Roger Underwood and two sisters, Jean Hamilton and Janice Case.

Don worked for over 20 years at Sarg Hubbard’s and became the shoe manager. He then went to CWU and graduated with a B.S. in Accounting and a minor in Computer Science. He worked a short time for Akland Pump and Irrigation and then for YVCC as an Accountant. He was a long time active member of West Valley Lions and an advisor of the Leo Club at Washington Middle School.

Don was an avid sports fan and assisted with coaching pole vault at Davis and Highland. He played bass clarinet in his high school honor band and bass guitar in a rock band in his youth. Recently, he became an AARP driving instructor volunteer. Don loved to tell stories, jokes and never met a stranger. He was a member of Central Lutheran Church and his faith in God saw him through many trials in life.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Central Lutheran Church. Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
