with her children by her
side. Mom was born in
Yakima, Washington on
March 28, 1940. She was
raised in the Gromore/
Tieton area. She often
drove the tractor from
the family farm to the
Gromore store. Mom
attended Mountain View
Elementary and graduated
from Highland High
School in 1957. Mom was a
cheerleader and member
of the ASB and Honor
Society. After high school,
Mom attended Yakima
Valley Community College
Business School.
Mom married Gene
Gredvig on June 17, 1958.
Soon after their marriage,
their 1st daughter
arrived. Lynette was born
on October 2, 1959, followed
by Gary on August
21, 1961 and Linda on
December 1, 1962.
Dad and Mom built
our beautiful home on
Scenic Drive in 1969 with
the help of many friends
and family members. Ron
Thomas’ beautiful rock
wall and full ceiling to
floor fireplaces were some
of the best features of our
home.
After their divorce
in 1976, Mom moved to
her townhouse on 45th
Avenue. Many of our
friends knew the place
very well, as Mom always
had the door open for
them all. The pool table
in the garage and our
“sign in” wall were filled
with many fun and interesting
memories! We
were known as the kids
with the “coolest mom”
in West Valley. She loved
her champagne too. The
panels in the kitchen
ceiling had to be replaced
from so many champagne
cork holes!
Mom then moved to
her home on Occidental
that she loved so much.
She maintained her beautiful
yard and spent many
hours in the family room
knitting afghans and
scarfs for the family.
Mom started her
career at Wray’s Thriftway
on October 23, 1968
and has been a faithful
employee for over 44
years. The owners, Bob,
Sharon, Chris and Karen
Brown were Mom’s 2nd
family.
Mom was past president
of WAVS and spent
many years as their secretary,
planning their
annual event at Lake
Chelan.
Mom was a traveler.
Her many trips took her
to Hawaii at least 20 or
more times (too many to
count), Tahiti, Hong Kong,
Japan, China, Disney
World, Disneyland, the
Grand Canyon, Puerto
Vallarta, and Cabo San
Lucas. Mom took many
cruises also: Rome, St.
Tropez, Barcelona, Malta,
Athens, Mykonos, Kusadasi,
and Istanbul, Victoria
B.C., the Eastern Caribbean,
Tahiti, Mexico and
Alaska.
Our special vacation
destination was
Cabo San Lucas. Mom
LOVED Cabo. The day
after Mom’s last radiation
treatment she was
on a plane with Lynette,
Michael and Kimmy to
Cabo for a week. It holds
so many fond memories
for us kids, grandkids and
friends.
Mom was also an
animal lover. She adopted
many forgotten and
abused dogs and gave
them a wonderful, loving
home.
Mom’s grandchildren
were her pride and joy.
Mom rarely missed any of
their sporting events and
was so incredibly proud
of them all.
Mom made a point to
make each grandchild
feel special. She took
Gary Lee and Michael to
Cabo during spring break
in 2007, Haley and Taylor
on a Mexican cruise in
2008 and Mark and Brent
on an Alaskan cruise in
2009 (it was the Seahawks
special, with members of
the team and some cheerleaders
too). No one could
ask for a better, more
involved “G-Ma.”
Mom had so many good
friends she cherished
throughout the years and
had such fond memories.
To each of you, we say
“thank you” for being a
part of Mom’s life; loving
and caring for her as we
have.
