Danny Dodd of Yakima, Washington, age 70, joined many family members and friends in the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, after a short illness. Born in Harrison, Arkansas to Joe and Marie Dodd, he was the eldest of four siblings. The family moved to Alaska when he was 14, at which time he met his future wife, Pat, whom he was married to for 52 years. His love of guitar playing began as a young teenager, leading him to become a member of a small band. Becoming a Christian at a Billy Graham crusade changed the course of his life, and led Danny to serve in the music ministry at Community Alliance Church for many years. He and Pat were some of the founding members and they were faithfully devoted to serving the church body. Danny was the maintenance man, and participated in the new construction at the church.
His many interests included car racing for which he won a number of trophies, riding motorcycles, fishing, boating, camping, reading, auto-mechanics, paint and bodywork, and playing games with family and friends.
His employment included driving trucks for various companies, owning his own semi’s and his own car lot. Danny was known for his honest and fair dealings. Between his truck driving and many family vacations and trips, Danny logged thousands of miles and saw much of this country and Canada.
His personality was such that he loved joking and teasing, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids, and making people laugh. He was a very hard worker. If he didn’t have a project to work on, he would make one up to stay busy. Danny was an all-around handy man who could fix and figure out anything. He was a man with a big heart who if anyone needed anything, he would be right there.
Danny is survived by his wife Pat, his daughter Tara and husband Rick Briggs, his son Danny II and wife Michele, grandchildren Valerie and husband Mitch Weddle, Stephanie and Rachel Johnson, Kaeti, Ember, Misty and Daemon Dodd, great grandchildren Jacob and Gabriel Weddle, Micah Maxwell, Dean and Mia Cooper, and Sophia Draper, siblings Kenny and wife Barbara Dodd, and Shirley and husband Claude Reid, sisters and brothers in law, Burma and Skip Klassen, Twila and Brent Dyck, and a number of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Delphia Marie Dodd, sibling Linda Dodd, and his grandson Ricky Redfield.
A memorial service will be held at Community Alliance Church, 14890 Tieton Drive, Yakima, WA on Tuesday, December 5th at 2:00 p.m.
A favorite verse highlighted at their 50th wedding anniversary is Matthew 6:33, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”
